TGIF-The Gluten Intolerance Festival
We welcomed 600 delegates from across Canada and the US
to Victoria, home of the Canadian Celiac Association Conference May 9-11, 2008.

Our sister Chapters supported us, especially the Vancouver Chapter who made a generous donation to help us host the conference.
The exhibits show was educational and fun.
The Fairmont Empress Hotel provided wonderful gluten free meals and the banquet food was outstanding.

TGIF Exhibits Show Open to the Public
For the first time ever we opened the trade show to the public on Saturday, May 10 in the afternoon.
The response was more than overwhelming.
850 local people visited the trade show
850 members of the public poured through the doors of the conference centre wanting to learn more about celiac disease and the gluten free diet.

2G Pharma tested and counseled about 80 people for celiac disease with the brand new product, a celiac home testing kit, launched at the conference.

More than 40 booths demonstrated gluten free food with free samples to try.
Gluten free cookbook authors sold the latest gluten free cookbooks.
And everyone coming through the door learned more about celiac disease and the gluten free diet all for a $2 entrance fee.
The Savvy Celiac Guide was Launched
We printed 1500 copies of the Savvy Celiac Guide and every one is gone.
Every conference delegate and every exhibits show visitor received a copy of this excellent guide.

About The Canadian Celiac Association
MISSION STATEMENT
The Canadian Celiac Association is a national organization dedicated to providing services to support persons afflicted with celiac disease and/or Dermatitis Herpetiformis through programs of Awareness, Advocacy, Education and Research. Celiacs are served by local Chapters throughout Canada, which united, form a national body called the Canadian Celiac Association. The Association is incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act. The National Association and the local Chapters are registered Charities.
VICTORIA CHAPTER
The Victoria Chapter is one of twenty-eight affiliated chapters comprising the Canadian Celiac Association. The Victoria Chapter first started in 1984. The Victoria Chapter covers Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands and even has members in the Yukon. There are two satellite support groups on Vancouver Island, one in Nanaimo and one in Comox. We currently have around 380 members.
