“A picture speaks a thousand words.” The images say it all. Victoria is one of the photogenic locations in the world. Known as The City of Gardens, the ‘to do’ list is endless. The Victoria Conference Centre and Fairmont Empress Hotel are located in the heart of the city. Within minutes you can walk to the busy Inner Harbour, the Parliament Buildings, The Royal British Columbia Museum, Beacon Hill Park, Thunderbird Park and all the downtown shopping. Take a red double-decker bus or a horse-drawn carriage for more sight-seeing and don’t forget to visit the world-famous Butchart Gardens

Lots of our conference delegates came early or stayed late to see more of Victoria, Vancouver Island and British Columbia.

For many, The Gluten Intolerance Festival was just the excuse they needed to visit our beautiful city. Check out www.tourismvictoria.com and prepare to be convinced.

Take in more of the Island – check out www.tourismvancouverisland.com or think bigger and embrace the whole province. Look at www.tourismbc.com for more enticement.

Afternoon Tea at the Empress was the icing on the gluten free cake. Some delegates signed up for a gluten-free Afternoon Tea on Sunday afternoon, May 11—a special treat for Mothers’ Day.

Savvy Celiac Guide

Every conference delegate received a Savvy Celiac Guide to help them locate celiac-friendly stores and restaurants.

Click here to download our Savvy Celiac Guide, a handy map of Victoria and Saanich that shows locations of these supporting restaurants and stores.

Getting here is easy - it’s the going home that’s hard.

The trip to downtown Victoria from the airport takes approximately half an hour. An airport shuttle service covers all incoming and outgoing flights and will transport you to downtown Victoria’s major hotels including the Fairmont Empress for a fee of $15.

By Sea

The BC Ferry Service route between Tsawwassen on the Mainland and Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island takes 1 hour and 35 minutes and meanders between the beautiful Gulf Islands. You may even see passing whales on this trip. Check BC Ferries website for current departure times and fares. You can make reservations on this route for an additional fee.
